FAQs

What is the minimum age policy at McDonald's?

To ensure McDonald's restaurants provide a work environment that supports the academic commitments of young people, we apply a minimum age policy of 14 years except where more stringent legislative restrictions apply.

If you are invited to an interview and are less than 16 years old, you will need a parent or guardian’s consent. Consent can be given either electronically or via a signed paper form. Parental consent must be provided before or during your interview. Information about how your parent or guardian provides their consent will be sent to you when you are invited to attend an interview.

What type of shifts are available?

McDonald's restaurants operate in a range of day-parts. These include:

  • Morning shifts (which can commence as early as 4am)
  • Daytime shifts (which cover our mid-morning, lunch and afternoon periods)
  • Evening shifts (which cover dinner and late evening times)
  • Overnight shifts (which help us serve our customers after 11pm through to mid-morning)

Our most experienced crew may assist with working evening and overnight shifts. However, at all times, McDonald's will comply with all Child Employment legislation. In addition, McDonald's recommends that school students are not expected to work beyond 11pm on a school night.

While the majority of McDonald's restaurants in Australia operate 24 hours, 7 days a week, there are some restaurants whose hours may be restricted eg. Food Court restaurants.
